Joe Ely

Joe is a member of Our Specialist Crime Team here at Cobleys Solicitors Ltd.

Joe is a 24-hours-a-day-7-days-a-week hands-on lawyer who advises and supports clients at all stages from the police station detention through to trial at the Magistrates’ or Crown Court.  He likes to be involved from the very first telephone call from the police to the acquittal at the Crown Court. Joe is a client-centred lawyer, who is always willing to have an informal chat about potential cases as soon as issues and problems arise, providing straightforward, honest and comprehensive yet compassionate advice.

Joe is a local lad and so feels a very strong connection to people from Merseyside. Joe likes to help people and is super motivated to help those people in society that cannot represent themselves and who need a voice. Joe really does see himself as the people’s champion; it is not a job to Joe but a vocation. He uses his extensive experience and advocacy talents to make a difference to his community.

Joe is one of the most highly respected Magistrates’ Court Advocates in Merseyside but Joe’s advice is not only sought by clients appearing in the Magistrates’ Court, he is also in demand from clients facing serious criminal charges before the Crown Court.

Cobleys is very lucky to have Joe as he is one of the leading experts in Prison Law in the country but we do not do Prison Law cases on public funding. We offer only a Rolls Royce treatment. For years Joe has been a frequent advocate before the Parole Boards of England and Wales. Joe has appeared before parole boards the length and breadth of the country and even appeared before the Scottish Parole Board. Joe also has considerable experience in dealing with Re-Categorisation and Home Detention Curfew Applications.  Cobleys only take on Prison Law cases on a private fee paying basis. In Joe,  Cobleys has one of the country’s leading experts in Prison Law and so his time is precious. Like all things that are special, his advice in Prison Law comes at a price. But his clients always agree that the quality of his service is worth every penny. By keeping his Prison Law work very selective, Joe’s clients are left feeling special.
